Winter visit to Tenerife
I’m in Tenerife for three days this week – along with with 90 members of the British Guild of Travel Writers (BGTW) – for our AGM.
After a four hour early morning BA flight from Gatwick, we are transported to our hotels on the Costa Adeje, in the south of the island. Because of the size of our group, we are staying in three different resort hotels. I’m at the Iberostar Anthelia – a palatial 5-star 365-room hotel with landscaped outdoor pools and a plethora of facilities.
My room has a balcony and sea view, but I’m tired and sleepy after the early morning start and only interested in trying out the comfortable bed for a much needed nap before dinner.
A few hours later, refreshed, showered and changed, I meet up with fellow members for cocktails and a private three course buffet dinner served under the stars in the Beach Club of the Hotel Bahia del Duque. It’s amazing to be eating outside in the middle of January in Europe, but as the evening goes on, I’m glad of my warm cardi.
The Hotel Bahia del Duque, another large and imposing hotel, is a 15- minute walk along the esplanade from the Anthelia and is the venue for tomorrow’s AGM. This will start half an hour earlier than originally scheduled, at 8.30am prompt! So no lie ins tomorrow!
