A New Spa for Guildford

Having been tied to my computer since my trip to Sydney, I took a few hours off yesterday to attend the launch of  ESPA’s new spa – The Spa at the Radisson Edwardian Hotel in Guildford.

The smart new hotel opened last year and is a much needed asset to the city.  Sue Harmsworth, MBE, ESPA’s visionary founder, lives in Guildford, so after 20 years of creating exquisite spas, treatments and products, Sue finally has an ESPA spa on her own doorstep.

As we sipped champagne cocktails and savoured delicious canapés, Sue explained that despite ESPA’s international success, the globally-renowned spa brand is an essentially ‘all British’ family enterprise; both her sons are actively involved in the business and the products are manufactured in Somerset. ESPA’s  impressive portfolio of award-winning lifestyle spas includes spas at leading 5-star hotels and luxury resorts in the UK and around the world, including the newly opened ESPA at Sentosa Island Resort in Singapore.

The Spa at Guildford’s new Radisson Hotel is a serene urban retreat with five luxury treatment rooms, a stone oven sauna, aromatic steam room, experience showers, relaxation room and a delightful small swimming pool with contra flow current. Dim lighting is used throughout enhancing the feeling of warmth and comfort. There’s also a spacious gym with state-of-the-art equipment.

Once I’ve finished writing my report on holistic tourism, I can see I’ll be returning for a revitalising visit.
