Busy November

Early November marks the start of World Travel Market (WTM)  –  the premier global event for the travel industry. For four hectic days, representatives from around the world gather at London’s ExCel , along with tour operators, travel agents, PR companies, airlines, suppliers and the media. It is as fascinating and rewarding as it is exhausting and frenetic – and an unprecedented opportunity to gather information and make new contacts.

WTM is always preceded by the Guild of Travel Writers annual rewards dinner. This year the dinner was held at the recently revamped and reopened Savoy Hotel, and I was a guest of the stunning Tanjung Rhu Resort & Spa on the Malaysia island of Langkawi. This is now on my list of ‘must see’ destinations!

As the Savoy has been closed for three years of renovations, I was surprised to learn that the revamp did not include the addition of a spa, which seems like an oversight. There is a  fitness gallery and one treatment room but no proper spa.
