It’s refreshing to find an editorially independent guide to some of Great Britain and Ireland’s best accommodation (hotels, inns and B&Bs). Unlike many other guides, the hotels in The Good Hotel Guide 2016 are selected on merit and do not pay to be included. What’s more, the guide’s inspectors pay their own way and remain anonymous throughout their visits.
Attractively laid out with colour images, the 672-page guide features several interesting chapters as well as the main section with 419 entries covering establishments in London, England, Scotland, Wales, Channel Islands and Ireland. where a full page is afforded for each detailed review. Hotels are listed alphabetically with photographs, contact details, prices and other essential information such as number of rooms, on-site facilities, whether children or dogs are welcome, accepted credit cards, etc. A Shortlist section with an additional 429 establishments includes untested new entries of a noteworthy standard, often in parts of the country where there is limited choice.
The Good Hotel Guide 2016 is also available online; hotels are asked to make a modest payment for a website listing.
